I love the sunset light in this (or is it dawn?!) – red below – red soil, red sky – violet above.

It was late in the afternoon and I left the fiest to weep in peace over my leaving the island the following day. The light was not the best but in it I saw that funny procession and I cheered up. I thought :
“Life is Hard for Rocks too”.
They too had left the panigiri to climb back to their home in the heights were they belong. The two last are “stone drunk”. The last one rolled over and he’s not probably going to make it.

I came across this poem a few weeks ago, and now it comes back to mind.

“I shall foot it
Down the roadway in the dusk,
Where shapes of hunger wander
And the fugitives of pain go by.
I shall foot it
In the silence of the morning,
See the night slur into dawn,
Hear the slow great winds arise
Where tall trees flank the way
And shoulder toward the sky.

The broken boulders by the road
Shall not commemorate my ruin.
Regret shall be the gravel under foot.
I shall watch for
Slim birds swift of wing
That go where wind and ranks of thunder
Drive the wild processionals of rain.

The dust of the traveled road
Shall touch my hands and face.”

~ Carl Sandburg, 1878-1967 ~

This entry looks good, doesn’t it? Here is the technicals. First, Eleni logged in her Flickr and clicked on button “blog this” over her photo. The photo flew, so to speak, to WordPress and stayed there until I came, opened the photo in the source and copied everything else under it. I wish WP offered background colors like Blogspot recently did, so I didn’t have to work on html to add them manually. Manual is ok because I can code out any color from the html color palette but sometimes I just don’t have the time for this.

    Iconolaters, enjoy :)
